Shanghai received 8.282 million inbound tourists in the first 11 months, exceeding expectations at the beginning of the year

On December 25th, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism announced that Shanghai received a total of 8.282 million inbound tourists in the first 11 months of 2025, an increase of nearly 40% year-on-year, surpassing the expectations at the beginning of the year and setting a new record for the whole year of 2024. Among them, foreign tourists reached 6.287 million, a year-on-year increase of nearly 50%, becoming the main source of growth.

The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism stated that the year-end Christmas and New Year activities are scheduled intensively, and the number of inbound tourists for the whole year is expected to exceed 9 million.
